In 2001 GeoDelft introduced the GeoQ concept in the geotechnical sector in The Netherlands. GeoQ is an integrated risk analysis approach to civil and environmental engineering tasks where the (sub)soil is generally the key risk driver.
The risks are identified and evaluated and mitigation measures are designed for each project phase seperately, starting from the initiative phase through pre-design, final design and realisation, to the maintenance phase. New contract forms like Design and Construct advance this approach strongly as they generate a strong need for transparancy in the risks and the possibility of a rational risk allocation to the seperate parties.
